Madrid was conquered by the Kingdom of Castile in the latter part of the 11th from the Moors. From an architectural standpoint, it is not an extremely active period. Perhaps its most important legacy is the addition of a larger Christian wall which still stands in certain areas of the Latina district and the appearance of houses on the outside of the Christian wall and along with them, several churches of which some still are standing such as Saint Nicholas and the church of Santiago. If you go to the Plaza de la Villa, you’ll also see one of Madrid’s oldest buildings: The tower and house of the Lujanes which dates back to 15th century.
